A release update for this next patch, which will include additional fixes, is unlikely to appear before Monday now. Unfortunately this doesn’t appear to fix the problem for some players so this 1.4.0 update can’t come soon enough. The workaround for this problem is to disable USB devices and “certain drivers” according to UbiSoft.
In an update to a post by Ubisoft, which was tagged onto a previous Steam post, they now say that the patch will not be released until early next week and no exact day has been specified. Update 24 November: The 1.4.0 patch has now been released. The plan was to release a 1.4.0 patch on Friday but UbiSoft has now delayed the patch, so anyone hoping for a weekend fix is sadly out of luck. This being Ubisoft, the patch release doesn’t seem to have gone entirely according to plan.
Oddly, it isn’t on their “live updates” blog for Far Cry 4 at the time of writing. You could upgrade it in Device Manager or go to manufacturers website to download and install the compatible one. Ubisoft announced the release of the patch on their forums. The previously delayed PC patch 1.4.0 for Far Cry 4 has now been released, and should roll out across uPlay and Steam throughout the day. The “red screen” issue, meanwhile, is intentional.
